Work placement is an essential part of preparing Year 11 and 12 students, as well as TAFE students, for future employment. As part of their Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses within the Higher School Certificate (HSC) program, students gain valuable hands-on experience by applying practical skills in real workplace settings.
Most VET courses require a minimum of 70 hours of structured work placement over two years, giving students the opportunity to build confidence, develop industry-relevant skills, and better understand the expectations of the working world.
Work placement host employers assist schools and colleges to prepare young people for the workplace by providing meaningful learning opportunities that help shape the next generation of skilled professionals.
